Daytona Beach, FL
Daytona Beach stretches from oceanfront condos on the beachside, across the Halifax River, to established neighborhoods and newer communities on the mainland west toward I-95 and LPGA Boulevard.
About Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach is the largest city on this stretch of coast and the hub of the area. The Halifax River splits it in two. The beachside is a barrier island lined with oceanfront condo buildings, hotels and older streets of houses a short walk from the sand. The mainland holds downtown and Beach Street along the river, older neighborhoods with homes from the 1920s through the 1970s, and the commercial corridors along Nova Road, Ridgewood Avenue and International Speedway Boulevard.
West of Clyde Morris Boulevard and out past I-95, the city has grown fast. Newer gated communities, golf neighborhoods around LPGA International and large new-construction areas near LPGA Boulevard have added many homes in recent years.

Things to do
The beach is the main event: a wide, hard-packed shoreline where parts of the sand are open to cars. The Main Street Pier, the boardwalk and the Daytona Beach Bandshell sit near the center of the beachside, and the Ocean Center hosts conventions and concerts.
Daytona International Speedway is home to the Daytona 500 and a full calendar of races and events, and the One Daytona shopping and dining district sits across the street. Bike Week and Biketoberfest bring big crowds each year. Downtown has the Riverfront Esplanade along the Halifax River, and Jackie Robinson Ballpark hosts minor league baseball. Golfers have LPGA International and several public courses, and boaters have marinas and ramps along the river. The Museum of Arts and Sciences and the Tanger outlets round things out.
Getting around
Daytona Beach sits where I-95 meets I-4, so Orlando is about an hour away and Jacksonville is a straight run north on I-95. Daytona Beach International Airport is in the middle of the city, next to the Speedway. Several bridges cross the Halifax River between the mainland and the beachside, including Main Street, Seabreeze, International Speedway Boulevard and Memorial bridges. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Bethune-Cookman University and Daytona State College are all in the city.
