Privacy policy

This policy explains what Newhouse Sells collects, why, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Elk Newhouse, REALTOR®, with Heritage Realty Associates. Questions? Email elk@newhousesells.com or call (386) 518-4538.
What we collect
- Account details. If you create an account: your email, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, and any name or phone number you add.
- Your activity while signed in. The homes you view, save and search for, and the requests you send. We tell you this when you sign up, and it's how we personalize your results and follow up on what you're looking for.
- What you send us. The name, email, phone and message you enter in a tour request, question, private search request or contact form, plus details about the home or search it's about.
- Basic technical information. Your IP address (used to limit spam and abuse) and a single cookie that keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising cookies or sell-your-data trackers.
If you browse without an account, we don't record which homes you look at.
How we use it
- To run your account: favorites, saved searches and email alerts you've turned on.
- To answer your requests and help you buy, sell or rent, including calling or emailing you about a request you sent.
- To send home matches and market updates, only if you opted in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn them off anytime in your account settings.
- To keep the site secure and stop spam.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We share it only:
- With Heritage Realty Associates, which supervises Elk Newhouse's real estate work and may need to keep records of client communications.
- With service providers that help run the site: web hosting, email delivery and spam protection. They may use your information only to provide that service.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of you, us or others.
Some parts of the site load from other companies' servers. Listing photos come from the MLS's photo service, maps come from OpenStreetMap (aerial views from Esri), map and page code comes from public content networks, and fonts come from Google Fonts. Those services receive your IP address when your browser loads them, under their own privacy policies.
When you look up an address (for example on the home value page, or a place you save for drive-time search), the address or spot is sent to a mapping service to find its location or calculate drive times: the U.S. Census Bureau's address lookup and OpenRouteService. Only the address or location is sent, never your name or email.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and activity while your account is open. Requests you send are kept as business records, usually for at least five years, because real estate brokers must keep certain records. Sign-in attempts and spam-protection data are kept for a short time only.
Your choices
- Update your name, phone and email preferences on your account page.
- Delete your account anytime from your account page. This deletes your favorites, saved searches and activity history. Requests you already sent may be kept as business records.
- Ask us what we have about you, or to correct or delete it, by emailing elk@newhousesells.com.
Children
This site is for adults looking for homes. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will be announced on the site or by email to account holders.
