About Deltona

Deltona began in the 1960s as a planned community and grew into one of the largest cities in Volusia County. It sits on rolling, sandy ground dotted with lakes, just north of Lake Monroe and the St. Johns River.

The city is almost entirely residential, laid out in long, winding streets of single-family homes. Shopping centers line the main roads, and Orlando-area jobs and attractions are within reach by I-4.

Things to do

Lakes are part of daily life here. Many streets run past small lakes, and some have parks, fishing spots and boat ramps. Lake Monroe and the St. Johns River to the south are good for boating and fishing.

Nature parks are close by. Lyonia Preserve in Deltona protects scrub habitat with walking trails. Gemini Springs in DeBary and Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, a winter gathering spot for manatees, are a short drive away.

Getting around

I-4 runs along the west side of the city, connecting Deltona to Orlando to the southwest and to Daytona Beach to the northeast. Saxon Boulevard and Howland Boulevard are main local roads. A SunRail commuter station is in neighboring DeBary.

Orlando Sanford International Airport is about 20 to 25 minutes away. Downtown Orlando and the Daytona Beach area are each about 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
