South Daytona, FL
South Daytona is a small mainland city between Daytona Beach and Port Orange, along the west shore of the Halifax River, with established neighborhoods of mostly single-story homes a short drive from the beachside bridges.
About South Daytona
South Daytona covers a compact area, most of it in one ZIP code, running from the Halifax River west past Nova Road. Ridgewood Avenue (US 1) runs along the river side, and Big Tree Road and Reed Canal Road cross the city east to west. It is almost entirely residential, with shopping and services along the main roads and the larger stores of Daytona Beach and Port Orange close by.
Most neighborhoods were built from the 1960s through the 1980s, so expect mature trees and single-story ranch homes rather than new construction.

Things to do
The city has several neighborhood parks, including Reed Canal Park with its lake and walking trails. Along the Halifax River, riverfront parks have walking paths, picnic pavilions, a kayak launch and a public boat ramp, and the river is close by for fishing and boating.
For everything else, South Daytona's central spot helps. Daytona International Speedway, the downtown Daytona riverfront and the Pavilion shopping area in Port Orange are each a short drive, and the beach is just over the river.
Getting around
South Daytona sits between two of the area's main bridges to the beachside: the Dunlawton Avenue bridge in Port Orange to the south and the bridges in Daytona Beach to the north. Nova Road and Clyde Morris Boulevard lead north to the Speedway and Daytona Beach International Airport, both a short drive away, and to I-95 and I-4 toward Orlando, about an hour away.
