About Commonwealth
Commonwealth is one of Port Orange's older manufactured-home neighborhoods. It dates from the 1960s and is made up of the original Commonwealth Mobile Home Estates and two later additions. Every home sits on its own lot, so buyers own the land as well as the home and pay no lot rent.
Most homes date from the late 1960s and early 1970s, and newer manufactured homes have replaced some of the originals. Some streets have an alley behind the homes, which gives those lots a second way in for parking at the back.
Amenities and community
There's no community pool or HOA-run amenity center. A few homes back up to a canal with water access, and many lots have room for a carport, a shed and sometimes a boat or trailer.
