About Castaways Beach Resort

Castaways is an older beachfront resort, built in 1960, where each unit is owned separately. Many owners use their units part of the year and rent them out the rest. It's a condo-hotel (condotel), so financing can differ from a regular condo. If you plan to use a loan, talk with your lender early about what they'll finance here.

Building amenities

The resort has a large oceanfront pool with beach access, a fitness room, a club room, a laundry room, grills and a picnic area, and a small dog park. A 1950s-style diner sits next to the pool. There's also plenty of parking.

Location

Castaways is at the north end of Daytona Beach Shores, near the Daytona Beach line. The Main Street pier and boardwalk, the bandshell and the Ocean Walk shops are a short drive north, and groceries, a post office and restaurants are close by.

Units are studios of about 331 to 384 square feet, many with balconies or patios facing the ocean. Right now 6 units are for sale, asking from $110,000 to $170,000, with a median of $125,000.

Fees, rules and rentals

Castaways has one association. In 2026 the fee was about $510 a month, and it covers more than most: electricity, water, internet, cable, building insurance, trash, pest control and maintenance. Fees change over time, so check the current amount on each listing.

Nightly and weekly rentals are allowed. Pets are allowed; read the association's pet rules. For any condo building three stories or taller, Florida law requires milestone inspections and structural reserve studies, so ask for the latest reports and any planned special assessments.
